While using a 3rd party launcher (Nova launcher in my case), open any app (and only one) and press the Recent Apps button 3 times quickly. . So I installed Nova Launcher and disabled the in-built launcher. It does not break when there are no recent apps or when there are 2 or more. However, when using Nova Launcher, I have to hold the navigation bar for around 1-2 seconds longer.
